Now if only we could get the feds to stop giving cash bonuses to states for abducting kids from their families and pushing them through foster care into adoption. Think of all the tax money saved - and all the families saved!

Be sure to include that in your letters!!

I know for a fact that you have to mess up REALLY bad to get your kids taken away. DCF will look high and low to find a family member to place kids with becasue it costs a lot of money to keep kids in Foster care and a lot more to pay all the fees to get them adopted. Teh adopting family usually gets a monthly stipend for adopting them. BELIEVE ME! it's not true that they abduct kids and adopt them out!

You cannot come here and tell me what is true and untrue and claim to know it 'for a fact" without baking it up with actual, real FACT, not your say-so.

FACT: "The Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act of 19802 provided the first Federal subsidies to encourage the adoption of children from the nation's foster care system. These subsidies, known as adoption assistance, serve to minimize the financial obstacles to adoption."

Source: http://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/f_subsid.cfm

READ THIS: http://familypreservation.blogspot.com/2010/09/monetary-incentives-for-family.html

These are government subsidies paid to states to move children to stranger adoptions. NO funds are allocated to help rehabilitate the families from which these children have come.

Read that bog post filled with FACTS and then tell me who is right and who is wrong!

Please! I beg you.

And many others here will challenge you as well. So, tell us please, what you know for a "fact"!!

Looks like a form letter to me, "thanks for writing about (fill in your cause here)...."
Hardly big news.

I was a foster parent for years and I know that they DO nOT abduct kids from their parents! They will do anything to keep the kids out of the system becuase it costs thousands of dollars a month per child to keep them there. They will place the children with any relative who is even remotely decent rather than keep them in care. I have a friend with a drug history. She hasn't had an arrest in years, but a history just the same. Anyway, a friend of hers was going to jail and asked my friend to keep her baby while she was there. She ended up losing her parental rights and no relatives wanted the child. They actually let my friend have custody of her rather than put her into Foster Care. My friend still has her and is raising her. She is doing an excellent job and the State gives her no help @ all as far as money goes. Unless yuou were a Foster Parent yourfelf and know how the system works, then you are the one who needs to refrain from giving your opinion!

As a matter of fact I am a former foster mother. I recently posted about one of my former foster children here: http://familypreservation.blogspot.com/2010/12/my-foster-son.html

But OPINIONS are just that. Opinion. You have yours and I have mine. I have personally witnessed children taken from perfectly good parents; have read factual accounts of mothers losing custody because they didn't have "enough" food in the house, or because they nursed their infant;"too long" or allowed an infant to sleep in their bed!

I have also witnessed first hand, and read factual accounts - we all have - of children left too long with abusive parents.

Social services and social workers err on both sides.

And then there are policies and funding which PAY states to move children quickly from foster care to adoption for dollars!!

Do the "opinions" of mothers who have been victims of over-zealous removals count???
